Hello World! Devlog #0

Hi there ๐Ÿ‘‹

Welcome to my first-ever devlog related to my dream game project, "The Gardener."

I've been working on this game as a side project while being a full-time computer science student. In this devlog #0, I would like to share with you a brief overview of what I have accomplished so far and what still needs to be done. But first...

What is The Gardener?

The Gardener is a small clicker/tycoon game in which the user takes on the role of a gardener. Their task is to transform barren land into a beautiful garden while amassing as much wealth as possible through the sale of plants.

Current Status Update:

As of now, I've successfully implemented key mechanics for "The Gardener" project, including:

  • Expanding the Garden
  • Buying and growing plants
  • Upgrading plants
  • Purchasing and upgrading managers
  • Acquiring decorations
  • Implementing plant hydration
  • Introducing plant fertilization
  • Establishing an economy system
  • Saving progress

While these achievements mark significant progress, there are still numerous mechanics on the roadmap that I plan to implement.

Game Visuals:

Currently, the majority of the user interface (UI) is complete. In fact, the only remaining UI element to be designed is the shop interface. Below are a few screenshots providing a glimpse of the game's UI:

3D Models:

Moving on to the other graphic aspect, the focus is currently on 3D models, and there's quite a bit on the to-do list. I've already created a variety of decoration models and a few animal models. However, all the plant models that will be available at the premiere are ready and showcased below:

Availability:

"The Gardener" will be accessible on both Android and iOS devices. While the release date is currently uncertain, I'm optimistic about completing the project within the next six months. The intention is to publish the game on various platforms, including itch.io, Google Play, and the App Store. It's worth noting that the game will be free to play.

Community:

And with that, we conclude my first devlog. I hope it wasn't too terrible! I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. What do you think could be improved in my devlogs? Additionally, I'm eager to hear your thoughts on "The Gardener." Do you like the concept? What changes or improvements would you suggest?

Lots of love, and see you next time!
Szymon
